Step by step

  1. Install the Downloader app

Go to Search (or Apps › Search for apps), type Downloader and choose Downloader by AFTVnews, then Install. It’s free.

Google Play on Google TV showing Downloader by AFTVnews with the Install button
  2. Open Settings › System › About

Select the gear ⚙ (or your profile picture) at the top right of the home screen, or press ⚙ on the remote. If a short list opens first, choose Settings or All settings.

Google TV Settings with System highlighted, and the About page open
  3. Press Select 7 times on Android TV OS build

Scroll to the bottom of About, highlight Android TV OS build and press the round middle button 7 times, until you see “You are now a developer!”

Why? Google TV only lets apps like Downloader install other apps once this is on. It doesn’t change anything else.

  4. Type showvee.com/get in Downloader

Open Downloader. Select the address bar at the top, type showvee.com/get and choose Go. The download takes a few seconds.

  6. Choose Install

Developer mode isn’t on yet. Go back to Settings › System › About and press Select on Android TV OS build 7 times, quickly, then try the download again.

“Blocked by Play Protect”

Choose Details, then Install anyway. If it offers to scan the app, choose Scan app — it takes a few seconds — and then install.

No install screen appeared

Open Downloader, choose ☰ › Files and select the Showvee file to start the installer again.

“App not installed” or “package conflicts”

Another copy of Showvee is installed that was signed differently — for example one from Google Play. Uninstall it (Settings › Apps › Showvee › Uninstall) and install again. Note your playlist details first: they’re removed with the app.

“There was a problem parsing the package”

The download didn’t finish. Delete it in Downloader (☰ › Files) and type the address again.

Will Showvee update itself?

Yes. The first time it offers an update, the TV asks whether Showvee may install apps. Switch it on once and later updates install with one press.
